YASAD launched the Turkish Software Works Archive and Encyclopedia Project

The launch meeting was attended by Dr. Ziya Taşkent, General Director of Copyrights of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Gönül Kamalı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of YASAD and Board Members, Sevilay Güven, Secretary General of YASAD, former presidents of YASAD and representatives of well-established companies of the software industry. 

YASAD Chairman of the Board of Directors Gönül Kamalı stated that they are working with the goal of making the Turkish software industry one of the world's leading producers in the next 50 years and said, "YASAD's goal is to make our software industry the driving force of our development by popularizing domestic software products in the public and private sectors. Thus, our country will become a regional center in information and communication technologies." Noting that the Turkish software industry is at a strategic point, Kamalı said, "As an association, we have been following the establishment, development, growth and institutionalization steps of our companies for 30 years. In this process, we have seen that the growth of companies that can read the market on time, quickly adapt the features required by the market to their software, and offer software support services professionally has been inevitable." Underlining that one of the most important steps in the commercialization of the software work is the protection and registration of the copyrights of the work, Kamalı said that as YASAD, they carried out two different training activities within the scope of the project. 

Sevilay Güven, Secretary General of YASAD, said, "Our Turkish Software Works Archive and Encyclopedia Project will be a study that will reveal the creation process, development, number of users preferred by how many users, domestic and international usage figures of the software works that have established themselves in the industry until today and have become brands." Güven also announced that the software works deemed worthy to be included in the project will be registered in the Intellectual and Artistic Works Database of the General Directorate of Copyright of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.  

A panel titled '50 Years of the Turkish Software Industry and the Importance of Copyrights in the Development of the Software Industry' was held at the launch meeting. The panel was moderated by Gönül Kamalı, Chairman of the Board of Directors of YASAD. The panel was attended by Prof. Dr. Eşref Adalı, former Dean of Istanbul Technical University Computer Engineering Faculty of Informatics, Şeref Beykoz, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Turkish Software Works Archive and Encyclopedia Project, Gülara Tırpançeker, Founder of Tekimed Software, Rıza Durucasugil, YASAD Board Member, Argemip Cluster Chairman and Netaş Innovation and R&D Strategies Director, and Derya Karagöz, Business Development Director of Link Bilgisayar.
